D-Lib article about the DataCite 2013 summer meeting

The January/February special issue of D-Lib gives an interesting overview on the Research Data Alliance and its activities. It also includes a brief summary of the DataCite 2013 summer meeting, which was co-located with the 2nd RDA plenary meeting in Washington DC. The 2014 summer meeting will be co-located with the IFLA conference in France in August this year. We will publish more details on the event here in due time.

Higgs discovery data citable thanks to a DataCite DOI

Today the two particle physics theorists François Englert and Peter W. Higgs, Nobel prize in Physics for 2013, will receive their awards in Sweden.
The data confirming the existince of the Higgs-Boson can be cited with a DataCite DOI: 10.7484/INSPIREHEP.DATA.A78C.HK44

Force 11: Draft Declaration of Data Citation Principles

People have been working on data citation issues for a long time. Different groups and different communities have come up with different guidelines and recommendations on how data should be cited. The different approaches generally agree in principle, but there are some distinct differences. It is fair to say that the different approaches were almost seen as competing in some way.
