DataCite registers its 3 millionth DOI name!

At the end of March 2014 DataCite registered its 3 millionth DOI.

The registered dataset with the DOI 10.5517/CCPHZ37 is a crystal structure from the The Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre (CCDC) in the United Kingdom.

DataCite has registered more than 3.2 million DOIs so far. You can always find the latest number in our stats page.

DataCite endorses the Joint Declaration of Data Citation Principles

At the General Assembly in Dublin last Tuesday March 25th, DataCite members endorsed the Joint Declaration of Data Citation Principles created by the Data Citation Synthesis group.

Following the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Research Data Alliance (RDA) DataCite will become an organizational affiliate of RDA.

As defined by the RDA Organizational Member Process Document, RDA Affiliates are likeminded organizations that seek to coordinate efforts in mutual areas of interest and to avoid unnecessary duplication or conflict.

DataCite General Assembly welcomes 4 new full member

At the General Assembly on Tuesday March 25th in Dublin DataCite accepted 4 new full members.
We are pleased to welome the University of Tartu (UT) from Estonia, the South African Environmental Observation Network (SAEON), the Japan Link Center (JaLC) and the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) as new full members.
