DOI resolution issue

Currently some DataCite DOIs do not correctly resolve. This applies to almost all DOIs minted since 2012-02-02. So roughly 1000 DOIs or 0.08% of all DataCite DOIs are affected.

As far as we know this only affects DOI resolution but not registration. There will be no need to register those DOI again.

Engineers are currently working on the problem.

The outage occurred during the transfer of certain operations to CNRI, who run the global handle server infrastructure that underlies DOI resolution. The cause is partly due to a synchronization issue between the primary and secondary handle servers managed by CNRI.

DataCite expects the new operational arrangement with CNRI to result in overall improved operations with 24x7 support.

We regret any difficulties caused during the transfer and are working closely with CNRI to ensure that a similar problem does not arise in the future.
